About - Alpine Flight School

Alpine Flight School is based at Eagle County Regional Airport in Eagle Colorado. We offer a broad range of services and training for all levels of aviators.  What makes our operation unique is our ability to provide mountain and backcountry flight training.  Colorado has some of the highest terrain in the United States, that creates an excellent learning environment.  Additionally, in the summer months Colorado can provide some excellent backcountry opportunities.  We are located on the western side of Colorado, nearby Utah provides unmatched backcountry opportunities, especially in the winter and spring.  Our training programs can be scheduled to begin from any airport in the Central Mountains of Colorado that is convenient for the student. including Eagle County Regional Airport (KEGE), Aspen Airport (KASE), Steamboat Springs Airport (KSBS), or Telluride Airport (KTEX). Utah programs are scheduled to begin from whichever airport the student desires to fly into either privately or commercially but typically those airport are Eagle County Regional Airport (KEGE), Grand Junction Regional (KGJT), Canyonlands Airport (KCNY), or Salt Lake International (KSLC).

Your Questions

All training is scheduled individually. There are no pre determined dates. Figure our what works for you, give us a call and get on the schedule.
That's your choice. We offer both options, prices vary slightly. Some people like camping, others don't. If you want the full experience of flying into the backcountry and sleeping under the wing we do offer camping, we have all the necessary equipment, our instructors also happen to be pretty good cooks! However if you prefer a real bed, a shower, and a steak at a great restaurant then we have that option as well.
60 days prior for all multi day trips we do require 50% deposit so we can book the necessary elements for your experience. For single day or partial day events we require a deposit of $250 one week prior.
For the most part. Multi-day trips include instructor, aircraft, food, beverages, camping gear or lodging/car rentals. All training events have a generous number of training and aircraft hours included in the program. Sometimes students choose to extend the amount of training and may have additional aircraft and instructor charges at completion. This will always be discussed ahead of time between the student and the instructor.

Accomodations

Utah backcountry trips can be configured with either camping or hotel lodging for the nights away. Hotel lodging generally utilizes the Marriott Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, or other comparable property in Moab Utah.

Colorado backcountry trips are generally a series of day-trips but may provide for the option of a single night of camping at Marble. If a night of camping is selected, Alpine Flight will provide the necessary camping equipment, food and beverages for the camping. Customers should secure their own lodging for other nights. We recommend Best Western in Eagle Colorado due to proximity to dining and availability of hotel transportation to airport.

Other day experiences as well as multi-day mountain training does not include any overnight options. Flights will begin and end daily in Eagle Colorado. Customers should secure their own lodging. We recommend Best Western in Eagle Colorado due to proximity to dining and availability of hotel transportation to airport.
